It's something I've believed in quite strongly my entire life: The Yankees suck. There's no question.
Posted by Erica at September 17, 2007 6:38 PMThe Confederates, being barely literate enough to operate a musket, much less a set up any sort of manufacturing base, really couldn't afford to spend the cannonballs.
They may have been there firstest, but they were short of the mostest.
Thus, defeat.
Posted by Randy Rager at September 17, 2007 7:50 PM... personally, I blame the leadership... but then again, most do.....
... it's as ole Sam Watkins said about when he was a Rebel infantryman at Chattanooga.... "we were ready to fight, flee, or fortify.... we were just a'waitin' the orders.." .....
Posted by Eric at September 17, 2007 7:52 PMNow, a man with a cannon is a man after mine own heart.
And be careful what you say about yankees. Some of us ain't from blue states.

Posted by rankin' rob at September 17, 2007 9:46 PMHell, I and thre buddies took Chatanooga from that very same point in the seventies. Some bottle rockets a little booze and before you knew the entire hill was on fire.
Even thought we enjoyed the hospitality of Chatanooga for a few days prior, we figured that after recreating Shermans march +110 years or so it was time to beat feet.
I don't really know much about that. I am really drunk on tequila right now. A rare thing...but happens to the best of us.
I do know that the women's music festival I attended for years used to happen on Lookout Mountain. Before my time attending it.
Lots of nekkid or half nekkid lesbians cavorting in the woods. Please feel free to indulge your fantasies of porn stars..but the truth is we wear big shoes and have short haircuts. Anyway... very good times ensued.
Argggh Tequila...thou art evil!

Posted by JohnB at September 19, 2007 6:25 AMJohn,
Southerners will use "skosh", "squidgen", or "scunion" interchangeably to mean "jes' a li'l bit".
Posted by Velociman at September 19, 2007 6:40 AMHmm. Will have to research it some more.
Posted by JohnB at September 19, 2007 11:25 PMI don't know, but I'd bet it boils down to numbers. Probably far more Yankees, I'd wager.
