Shooter

A seemingly brilliant young man has gone mad. Shot up north of 70 people, killing at least 12. It's a crazy world.

What we do know: nothing much. Brian Ross alleged he was a Tea Partier. We know that has been debunked. Although why that whore keeps his job bemuses me. Well, it doesn't. He was the centurion charged with carrying out the libel.

We also know this guy was a particularly brainy neuroscience PhD candidate. The very tops in his classes.

What we do not know: why he was withdrawing from a seemingly promising PhD program. His political affiliations, if any. His motive, or motives.

Here's what I know. Because I can smell bullshit from a thousand yards. This guy ain't no Tea Partier. His hate likely stems from an inability to score a cush government job with his masters degree. Hence the necessity of the PhD program.

He's a slacker, philosphically. Although an apparently intelligent one. And what a shame. That his mind, his dreams, were derailed into a fucking bucketful of hate. Perhaps his parents let him down, perhaps he was too crazy to reach. Perhaps he was just a scorned lazy hipster who just got his first whiff of coffee.

But now people are dead. I wouldn't put any political motive on this, other than the meta "sucks to live in this economy." Sure it does. Ain't been sweet tea for me. But I'm not blasting holes in people, either. This onion will get peeled back. I may even be off the mark. BUT:

This whole thing smacks of a Scorpio Bus Ride to me. Nothing more. For what it's worth.

The fucker even resembles Scorpio, now that you mention it. Good analogy.

I am sure we will see some more political bullshit in the coming days. Basic truth, the guy was nuts and his mom knew it and I suspect more than a few others. Ya can't fix crazy not even with duct tape. Another bottom line right around 6700 people died that day in the US and sadly this shooters rampage didn't even surprise me.

Places like theaters with choke points always bother me. Everyone rushing for the exit door is a turkey shoot for sure. I remember a bomb threat at the Gov. office I worked at and everyone went and stood at the front of the building. I was like "fuck that" and went out the back into the alley and stepped over a homeless guy. Nobody wants to off a single white boy and a homeless guy, but that crowd would have been easy pickings.

One of the more intelligent comments I read was to the effect that 50 years ago we knew how to deal with this. We acknowledged that there were people who were crazy, and we had reasonable and humane ways to deal with them. We had over 1 million people in state mental hospitals, most of them there at the express desire of themselves and their families. (At View from the Right blog)

But the libs (led by Geraldo Rivera) found some abuses in the system (in New Yawk naturally) and so it was all shut down, and all the crazy people were put on the streets, and the mechanisms for dealing with them were drastically curtailed.

We used to have universal social standards of behavior and people who failed to meet them were ostracized. Now it's all relative.

So who is to say that a 24 year old hearing voices, dying his hair bright red, dressing up like the joker, etc. ... well what can you do. Boys will be boys, and schizophrenic boys with guns will be schizophrenic boys with guns.

From what I read, he was not doing that well in school and was about to be put on academic notice - though not threatened with expulsion.

He probably knew he had psychological problems, and his choice of study may have even been a way of trying to get a handle on it.

These typse either just got rejected by the GF or never got laid in the first place. He would have had better luck in the asylum.

The shit you learn around this place. First, this Jackson fellow seems to make sense. That's got to be a prima facia case for locking me up right there. Then Wilson implies that the jim-jam clinic is coed! Who knew? Sign me up before I'm forced to shit myself in public or something. Where did they lock up that fuck-up who shot Reagan? I hear he gets weekend passes. Sign me up for that place. Put me in the Jody Foster wing.

Yep, GF gave him the boot. What this country needs is GF control. There are no mass murderers who are getting laid, except politicians.
