This was shipped to me today:

If you know what it is, you'll appreciate where I'm going with this. If you don't, just consider it Hillbilly Lego. Or, as the man said, Build it, and they will die come.
As I told Vanderleun, God is my co-sniper.
Like the time Slick Willy first gazed upon Miss Lewinsky: Behold the "lips" of your lower receiver!
Posted by: 08nagaer at January 30, 2010 2:08 AMYou're slapping together a .50 Beowulf? Video, please.
Posted by: Randy Rager at January 30, 2010 10:54 AMEvery time a right-thinking person buys a receiver, a hippie is forced to take a bath and get a haircut.
One could hope so, anyway.
Posted by: Grumpy Old Ham at January 30, 2010 11:46 AMHusband's birthday is on the horizon, and oldest son thinks we should get him an AR15 lower receiver (I suspect there is a bit of self interest involved here) ... man Legos indeed! Man Legos are 'spensive!
(But it is kind of fun to see him grin like a kid, and I know he won't be expecting it.)
Posted by: PeggyU at January 30, 2010 4:03 PMI find it somewhat amusing the the guts of an AR-15 lower receiver look like something you'd find in an old timey cap pistol.
Posted by: Tbird at January 30, 2010 7:19 PMNow everyone knows WWJD. Will be on your flank...
Posted by: Fukitol at January 30, 2010 8:28 PMBest church sign I ever saw said, "If God is your co-pilot, you should change seats."
So, what caliber?

What Would John Moses Browning Do?
Posted by: Randy Rager at January 31, 2010 12:13 PMA thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Posted by: Elisson at January 31, 2010 12:56 PM"So, what caliber?"
From what's stamped on the receiver, 5.56x50, although I don't really know anything about it. That's bigger than the NATO standard 5.56x45.
Posted by: Desert Cat at January 31, 2010 11:58 PMBuffalo hunting? Count me in.
Posted by: Dishonorable Schoolboy at February 1, 2010 7:26 PM.... so, which calibre are you choosing for the rest of the weapon?...... you still need the upper receiver, bolt, and barrel.....
Posted by: Eric at February 2, 2010 10:05 PMV-Man,
Don't be a pussy and turn it into a .22; build it with something bigger than a 7.62
Posted by: No Sheeples Here at February 3, 2010 6:20 PMSounds like you're building one helluva "fun gun".
Posted by: No Sheeples Here at February 4, 2010 8:37 PMYou will soon be on a first name basis with the guys at Brownell's. Get their AR parts catalog. And keep it handy for reference reading in the john.
