There were an estimated 2 milion people at the Tea Party protest in DC yesterday. As opposed to the 1.8 million who were there in January. I don't know if that 2 million figure is accurate, but if it is, more people showed up in Washington to protest Obama's presidency than showed up to inaugurate it, and they told me that was the Event of the Century.
And about 5 times as many as showed up for the overhyped Million Man March. I wonder if the Tea Party protest will become a Spike Lee Joint, too?
Right on brother...Spike Lee Joint!
You are the fucking man!!!!!
Posted by: Sam at September 13, 2009 10:44 AMThe Tea Party turnout was far more impressed than the coronation figure, no matter what the real totals were.
The DC metro area is as blue as Bill Clinton's balls between assignations. Out of a population of something over 3.5 million mostly fuehrerprinzip-fan Democrats in government and its parasites, it's easy for them to pack an assemblage on a mid-winter day off.
Cordially...
Posted by: Rick at September 13, 2009 10:53 AMyeah kinda ironic that the NY Times carried the news and the Washington Post did not...or if it did it was on a back page I could not find.
Yep, the MSN is doing its best to pretend this never happened, and if it did happen, the crowd was small, unorganized, and without direction.
Posted by: dick at September 13, 2009 4:13 PMI'm real proud of my fellow Tea Party Patriots of Florida's First Coast who made the trip up to DC. There are roughly 60 million more of us who couldn't/didn't go but were with them in spirit!
Posted by: Mockingbird at September 13, 2009 5:15 PMI just can't help thinking that in any other country, two million people marching on the nation's capital would mean the overthrow of the government and the tyrant at its head.
Posted by: Nathan at September 14, 2009 8:17 AMOh, but it was all for nothing, bec. our Dear Leader says today that it didn't count. He knows other people who are keeping QUIET and not bothering anyone or carrying signs and gathering en masse.
I feel I have been quite properly chastised and put in my place. Gosh, no more tea parties for me!
Posted by: Kath at September 14, 2009 6:21 PMOh, the Mexicans march in greater numbers all the time. The gov't allows it, since it relieves some of the built-up animus among the populace and gives the peasants something to do.
Obama is unmoved and has taught his media to follow his lead on this. They will be smarter about "hanging together" lest they be hanged separately. A few Dems will bail out of fear of the people, but the rest will quickly learn that their power comes from following the man that has the media in his thrall.
We're still fucked.
Posted by: Joan of Argghh! at September 15, 2009 9:45 AMJust waiting for The Won to follow Castro's advice and legalize marijuana. That way, we won't mind our poverty so much, and we sure as Hell won't be motivated beyond seeking out some munchies.
Posted by: Joan of Argghh! at September 15, 2009 9:46 AMIt makes sense to me the crowds are bigger. There are more unemployed people able to do so.
Tripe.
Posted by: Erin O'Brien at September 17, 2009 7:30 AMAnd yet they left less trash.

I heard or read a report where some university (Indiana?) has software that estimates the crowd in a picture, their estimate was 1.7 million.
I don't know how accurate it is, but there were a lot of people in the pictures I've seen.
Posted by: Larry at September 18, 2009 9:12 AMAnd it was clean when our people left. No flags in the trash either. Hmmm, makes you think, doesn't it?
