"The Police Are On Their Way, Mrs. Leadbottom"

There's been some discussion at Instapundit's and elsewhere about the crapulent Brinks Home Security system commercials. Yes, they seem aimed at allegedly helpless women who seem unable to defend themselves. And yes, I believe home security systems actually increase crime, because the perp believes the homeowner is unarmed.

But I'm excited by the fact that, as evidenced by these commercials, 100% of burglary and home invasion felons are apparently pasty white guys, who probably lost their sweet guitarist gigs when Fine Young Cannibals broke up. Makes those line ups a lot easier.

So if my back door glass breaks, and I see an Asian or Hispanic or African-American person brandishing a tire iron, I'll take solace in the fact that they are most likely Jehovah's Witnesses, surge-delivering the latest Watchtower edition for my spiritual edification.

PROFILING!!!

I agree with the suggestion that a 'Brinks' sticker in the window suggests 'unarmed victim inside'. I prefer my NRA sticker although I wonder if that doesn't simply advertise to would-be burglars that yonder is a weapon worth having.

The greatest advantage in a home alarm system is that you are alerted to an intrusion upon entry which can buy you time to get the gun. On the other hand, if the security system allows one to become lax in their own defense, well...score one for the pasty white guys. Then again, those loud-as-all-get-out, less than $10 noise makers stalled in a window will wake a dead-person so, really, I think I'm covered.

Personally, I think a pack of noisy dogs are the best "first alert". One of my friends has a slew of chihuahuas and as much as I can't stand yap dogs, it gives me some comfort to know that nobody will EVER be able to break into her house without setting them off.

A group of big noisy dogs would be even better.

Great song selection there Mr. V. I'm going to watch it again, and maybe again.

Security - dogs and guns.

Wonder who'll get to em first...
Patton, Bear, or the round from my .40 cal.

I'm putting my money on Bear.

You gotta go for the security company with the Enzyte commercial guy at the desk. Once the alarm is tripped, his massive member could shoot out and bludgeon the intruder.

When not home, ADT watches the house.
When I'm home, it's GLOCK.

Woe unto the intruder who thinks my ADT sign indicates an unarmed household.
