Shoe Tossing: Change We Can Believe In

I found this at Drudge: Obama's USAService.org website has hinky links to all sorts of groovy shit, including an Obama Celebration and Shoe Toss in the City of Angles:

"Come celebrate with us," wrote Gilbert Gazan, 46, in the event's description. "Say goodbye to old Georgie ... Throw a shoe at a poster of Bush and win a free drink."

What the fuck is the matter with Barack Obama? His campaign offices had Che posters, he's continually tied to shit like this shoe toss. I don't care if he's personally unaware of this. It bears his fucking imprimatur, whether he likes it or not. Remember the "mere appearance of impropriety"? That hoary old saying is thrown at Republicans at every available opportunity. Obama is continually on the periphery of some very nasty stuff, like the Blago mess, but lack of investigation by the media allows him to skate like he's at Rockefuckingfeller Center.

This craven little puss needs to man up and denounce the scurrilous remoras clinging to his belly. Unless he agrees with it, and is merely playing the passive-aggressive ignoramus, sucking in the benefits while showing the public his squeaky clean hands.

Say what you want about George W. Bush, and I don't think anyone can accuse me of carrying water for him, but he's shown an incredibly remarkable amount of restraint over the last eight years. While he was being continuously denounced in the most disgusting of terms, he held himself above the fray, and the lunacy, and let it slide off his back. Unlike, say, Bill Clinton, who blamed all of his transgressions and travails upon his political opponents. And would corrupt his own cabinet into defending him by brazenly lying to them. Get caught with your dick in somebody's mouth? Blame the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Get impeached? Ken Starr is a prurient sicko.

I never understood the Left's incredible hatred for Nixon and W. They were among the most liberal of Republican presidents ever. Leftists should have been ecstatic over No Child Left Behind, and steel tariffs, and the farm bill, and the prescription drug benefit, and signing McCain-Feingold. These were extremely liberal actions. But no: like the untelegenic Nixon, Leftists sensed the less than eloquent Bush was vulnerable, and never relented the assault. Hell, Gerald Ford was a very smart guy, and he was forever cast as some kind of Slingblade lobotomee. They tried it with Reagan, too, of course, but like 80% of in vitro attempts it just didn't take.

Obama's a smart guy. He needs to either condemn this sort of tomfoolery or embrace it. At the moment he is merely engaging in a transparent game of dodgeball. Come January 20th he will be the only guy standing, and if he doesn't cut his ties to his fellow travelers he will eventually have VOIT stamped backwards upon his magnificent forehead.

I think you know damn well how Obama will respond to this kind of shit - the same damn way he's responded to every other piece of crap that floats in his wake. One, he isn't responsible. Two, it's racist to bring it up. Three, this is not the (fill in the blank) he knew. Four, this is a "distraction."

This is a long established pattern with him. People once or twice removed get a free pass, or at th emost sidelined, and he pretends that he's above it all.

Obama has proven one thing about his character the past several years: he has no moral courage at all. He will not put himself on the line for anything - and why should he, when he's surrounded by toadies willing to immolate themselves for him?

No Child Left Behind is a political clusterfuck of the first water: the equivalent of Lake Wobegone, in which all the children are above average.

Sorry, folks. It doesn't work that way, not in Real Life.

The unfunded mandates of NCLB, along with its statistically impossible goals, will doom the public schools... which may have been the goal of the Bush administration all along.

This is not the place to discuss NCLB, a program with the worthiest, most laudable goals... and absolutely no fucking clue as to how to achieve them. And Teddy Kennedy is as culpable as Bush, for without his support, this travesty would never have been signed into law.

OK, Rant over.

I believe Obama has teflon coating courtesy of "White Guilt" and "Media Infatuation". Both of these will stand him in good stead until such time as he blunders so spectacularly forcing the media into having no choice BUT to acknowledge his transgression, (for example: found to be the direct cause of the Israels nuclear demise, or a major diplomatic faux up) or for reasons only known to him, he actually starts to lead this country. And does so from "the political middle of the road", or worse yet, something to the right of center. (Anything is possible, Hillary after all was one of the founders of "The Young Republican movement way back when, in Illinois.) This will cause both the left and the media to:

A) Wonder what the hell happened to their "Fearless Leader".
B) Proceed to tear him a new asshole.

Your mileage may vary.

What Elisson said.

Oh, and a belated happy new year.

if we could doom the public socialist indoctrination camps that easily, it would already be done. I WISH that were possible- but the system constitutes a remora, latched onto the populus as a whole at the groin and forcing us to hand over our children for re education while we pay for the privelege with our own blood- AND our children. How about just adding some accountability to the teachers? That would be an excellent start. Oh, wait, we can't do that because the unions would suffer. Better our children suffer than the bloated unions.

No child left behind failed because nobody bothered to look at the problem for fear they'd actually discover what was wrong.

Og, it's true there is lot wrong with our public education system, but NCLB didn't solve any of them and made it worse. I hated that atrocity from the get-go and I don't have kids in the system anymore.

For the record, I hate the farm bill and the Medicare D prescription too. They're both just big payoffs to corporate cronies and both passed with big bipartisan support. There's nothing liberal about either of them. I keep telling you folks, that it's not about liberals vs. conservatives. Us regular people have the same basic goals.

It's the miserable politicians against all of us. Doesn't matter what letter they have after their name. Our best bet is to throw every damn entrenched bum out.

Posted by: Libby at January 11, 2009 5:06 PM

Throw them out? are you insane? you think having those assholes in the general population is a good thing? No, we need to duct tape all the dirtbags together and Wile-E-Coyote 'em to another planet with a bigass bottle rocket. I'll bring the lighter. otherwise, I'm witcha.

Posted by: og at January 11, 2009 6:46 PM

LOL og. I can go with that plan. Put in the order to Acme for that rocket and maybe we can have a blogmeet to send them off.

Posted by: Libby at January 12, 2009 8:45 AM

Libby, I would not even attempt it without your able assistance.

Posted by: og at January 12, 2009 12:37 PM

Hell, come out to "The Chicago/Rockford International Airport". Lots of room to launch almost no encroachment. We could "launch 'em" all at once, or in any number of groups. Guaranteed good times for all!!

"Unless he agrees with it, and is merely playing the passive-aggressive ignoramus, sucking in the benefits while showing the public his squeaky clean hands."

Bingo.

That's it. I'm taking the "O" key off my keyboard.

Its is Obama's great insight, born of his love of his cruel, absent father, that America is ready to be governed like an African state: by a big man who distributes largess to his supporters, who in turn violently oppress dissenters.

The fourth estate has journeyed from respect (to FDR) to admiration (JFK) to sycophancy (BHO). The American intelligentsia has been corrupted by socialism in its fascist, nazi, or communist guise since the end of the 19th century. The admiration of intellectuals, first for Mussolini, then for Lenin, Hitler, Mao, Castro, and Chavez shows who they'd like to have govern America. They will get their wish, eventually.
