Nicely put. Too many people forget that the President wears two hats: Chief Executive, i.e. politician and head of state. We must distinguish between these functions and adjust our rhetoric accordingly.

Bingo. Something I wrote about a month before the election, just replace Bush/Cheney with Obama/Biden:

The United States of America is the home team, people. If you want to start looking to make some trades within the organization, great. We have elections for that. In the mean time, you step up and stomp the shit out of ANY visiting team who comes into our stadium talking trash about any of our players, coaches, mascots (Puerto Rico, Mexico) or management. You protect your teammates, or we buy out your contract and send you to the minor leagues, which, by the way, is called Canada. I'm gonna have to dissent. I have nothing but respect for the office...it has held some great, great men. It has also held men who think it's just another room, suitable for knobbers, keggers, what-have-you.

There's no way in hell I'm giving up my right to call bullshit when I see it, even if it is coming from the Commander-in-Chief. The government works for ME, not the other way around.

That being said, I respect the office but I also have to respect the man IN the office.
