Hail To The Chief
It's no grand secret that I have issues with our President-elect. I am talking about his worldview, his elitism, his embarrassing lack of
bona fides for the position. I will rage, and I will bloviate, as appropriate.
I will also say this: like every president, he is but a placeholder for the office. It is, after all, the office itself that we, as Americans, cherish.
Therefore, should any person, foreign or domestic, deign to impugn the holder of that office, he must answer to me, and a fuckload of other peoples of this nation.
We have a President-elect. Let us, as one, support this man. My jaw may pop often in indignation as he irritates me, as he will, I am sure. My eyes will likely roll back in my head like a porn star, as Catfish would say. And I will fight every wrongheaded issue he brings forth, with righteous anger, by God.
But he is the President of the United States. That still means something to me.
You fuck with him, you fuck with me.
P.S. In no way should this depress my Raffle. I'll throw this motherfucker right under the bus should that be the case. Just saying.

You can count me in on that fuckload of people! Guaranteed!
Well said Velociman. It took me a while to cool off, but I'm back where I was before the initial shock of this debacle caught me off guard.
Well said, and GOD Bless America!
Ewww.....guess I'm a little slow to jump on the bandwagon.
Nicely put. Too many people forget that the President wears two hats: Chief Executive, i.e. politician and head of state. We must distinguish between these functions and adjust our rhetoric accordingly.
Bingo. Something I wrote about a month before the election, just replace Bush/Cheney with Obama/Biden:
"Let me say this as plainly as possible: You stand by your god damned country - all of you! Now!!! I don't give a hoot what you think of President Bush or Dick Cheney or anyone in our government or our government in general. You do not get on the air or sit to dinner or engage in any conversation or diatribe that proudly points to some other country's superiority over ours. Ever! The United States of America is the home team, people. If you want to start looking to make some trades within the organization, great. We have elections for that. In the mean time, you step up and stomp the shit out of ANY visiting team who comes into our stadium talking trash about any of our players, coaches, mascots (Puerto Rico, Mexico) or management. You protect your teammates, or we buy out your contract and send you to the minor leagues, which, by the way, is called Canada. And same rules apply to Canada - you stick up for your minor league affiliate, too. But this one is more big brotherly in that you can give them a wedgie whenever you want, you just don't let anyone else do it."
I will support him when I think he is right and I will try to put tire tracks on his back when I think he is wrong...and right now I am putting fuel in the bus..while it is still at a price I can afford
I'm gonna have to dissent. I have nothing but respect for the office...it has held some great, great men. It has also held men who think it's just another room, suitable for knobbers, keggers, what-have-you.
There's no way in hell I'm giving up my right to call bullshit when I see it, even if it is coming from the Commander-in-Chief. The government works for ME, not the other way around.
"The government works for ME, not the other way around."
You just keep thinking, Butch, that's what you're good at.
I can't stand Barry but I don't think he's going to disgrace the office by getting an intern hummer.
That being said, I respect the office but I also have to respect the man IN the office.
No respect for Barry at this point. For the good of the country, I hope I'm wrong on the respect for the man. But I don't think I will be.
Well, a little slow to the bandwagon myself. Would it be alright if I just refrained for a while from the crazier sort of criticism? You know, like 2000 through 2008?
"demonize him and ascribe his motives to evil and malfeasance, not just policy differences. We should proclaim often and loudly that he is not our president, that he stole the election and he has no mandate. We should repeat false stories about him, no matter how crazy or wrong, until they are accepted as common wisdom. We should create lies and urban legends to smear him and demean him. We should ridicule any verbal slips or gaffes, and ascribe them to his native stupidity and intellectual vapidity. We should accuse him of every sin and crime under the sun and attempt to have him impeached for policy differences, which we should call crimes. We should undermine any programs he wants to pass by misstating their goals and content. We should take quotes out of context to make him seem ridiculous and to make him seem mean-spirited. We should repeat often that he doesn't care about people who aren't the same race as he is, and that he is only out for his own kind."
