THE WETBACK DILEMMA
I've generally cast a jaundiced eye upon the entire immigration debate, because it is clothed in politics, lies, and posturing. First of all, anyone who willfully refuses to differentiate between legal and illegal immigration is a scurvy, pox-ridden son of a bitch. I don't believe I've ever met a soul who resented legal immigration, so the whole racism slander is disgusting.
Now, to the meat of the matter: I would love to say I dutifully line up behind the locksteppers who claim AMNESTY! rewards lawbreakers, and we are a nation of laws, and you cannot reward illegal behavior, blah blah blah. I certainly believe that to a large extent, but reality encroaches.
Lookit: when I was a lad I'd have cops pull up next to me at a red light. See me smoking weed. Looked the other way. Didn't want to bring a kid down for a joint. And that has been our policy on illegal immigration since at least the 1986 amnesty. Look the other way. Refuse to fund the Border Patrol, build incarceration centers, bust employers of illegals. Wink and a nod. Tacit approval. And that tacit approval encouraged the 3 million amnestees in 1986 to bring the famblies on over, swelling the ranks to 12 million. We did this to ourselves. We winked, nodded. Hired. Ensconsed. Legitimized.
So what now? Activate the National Guards, and roust every wetback out of every meatpacking plant, berry farm, construction site, barrio? Until we find our 12 million? Never gonna fucking happen. On this watch or anybody's watch. No politician has the belly for that, and the nation would find the whole activity repugnant, even as they knew the illegals didn't belong here.
Me? I like the idea of telling the illegals to get thee hither to the nearest international airport, and bring your fucking back taxes with you. We're going to retinal scan your asses, and make you a goddamned taxpayer. What's done is done, past is past. You can't unfix that shit. But we can sure as hell get the wetbacks on the freaking taxrolls. And you know what? They'd probably love it.
Oh. Then we should shoot Vicente Fox, that elitist bastard, and redeploy troops from Iraq to Michoacan. I would love to see a 51st star on the flag, although I have no idea where you'd put it.
P.S. Just because you get a green card and a Social Security number doesn't mean I'm going to tolerate a raise in the criminally sweet rates I've been enjoying on my lawn care service. I know some Hondurans living in the woods who will undercut your ass, thank you very much.

This problem results, directly, from amnesty, and the political cowards of yesteryear. Thomas Sowell points out that we don't need most of the agricultural products the illegals farm, anyway.
Here's the deal: The federal government spends money today based upon 10 and 20 year projections. The projections show the economy growing. It has to, or they will have to live within their means THIS year. Unfortunately, the U.S. is at 0 population growth. So, the only way they can continue to spend at this rate is to let the illegal tide continue to flow over the breached levees that are our borders.

I do not believe that we are fated to endure a mass exodus of Mexicans to our lands, encouraged by their government. We can, and must, resist this.
Just because there is no easy solution does not mean that we must throw our hands into the air and say "This is the best we can do."

Right on V-man. Not to mention it would cost more to round up 12 million people and deport them than it would to put em on all on welfare for life. You want to punish somebody for this problem, crack down on the big employers. If they didn't hire em, they wouldn't be tempted to come here in the first place.
I might also point out that this talk about their not paying taxes is just plain wrong. The ones that work with fake ID, do pay taxes but will never collect SS benefits, so in a way they're doing the taxpayer a favor. Even the ones who work under the table, still buy stuff in the US and pay sales tax and whatever taxes the guvmit throws onto goods and services. It's not exactly a free ride except for those who go on welfare I guess but we got plenty of legal citizens that go that route, so you can't blame that all on the illegals either.

Without a shot being fired. Give these folks amnesty, and you've just handed major additional political power to a movement that is intent on retaking our country. Why give them the power of the ballot to hurry the process along? The solution is to militarize our border, deport illegals when they are discovered, end birthright citizenship, and cut off public assistance to non-citizens. Very easy, actually. And I bet you can find a teenager to cut your grass for the same or less than an illegal.

Oh, and those that say, "Americans don't want to work THOSE jobs": Horseshit. Americans don't want to work THOSE jobs at THOSE wages. The ones being artificially held-down by the illegal labor pool.
And for God's Sake, build the fence, with a trench behind it, filled with flaming gasoline. This is an invasion, and needs to be treated as such.

I very well understand the popular aversion to all matters factual, especially where it's most feared. Collectively, when we don't like the un-PC realities we discover, we run like rats to the relative comfort of our popular attitudes. As in "racist" "bigot" "Uncle Tom" "anti-semite" , I mean, you KNOW what I mean. Understand the number of illegals is far closer to fifty million than "eleven or twelve million". Understand the laws of supply and demand are non-negotiable, and inviolable. Understand the inevitable reality that every individual act complicit to illegal immigration has a factual, hence measurable effect economically on each member of society. Understand that by these laws, discernable identifiable groups benefit or suffer measurably by this activity. Understand that every single major "social legislative milestone" has engendered major reductions in the overall quality of life for all Americans...The rule is exactly opposite the lip service.
