WHEREIN I AM ATTEMPTED TO BE HUMBLED

Okay. I'll give you Jill Carroll's comments were actually extracted at gunpoint.

Fine. Now she is free. Where are the words of kindness for John Ghazi from Ms. Carroll? When I see those I will eat worms. I still think she is full of shit. Just my opinion, and you should see my day old boxers.

Go read Michelle Malkin, there are some quotes from Miss Carroll about John Ghazi.

Oops, sorry not John Ghazi.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0306/p01s03-woiq.html I got confused and went searching...the Alan Enwiya in the Michelle Malkin peace is I think who you are refering to as John Ghazi....anyway the article from the url above talks about Carroll translator so they must be the same person.

Read the transcript, or watch the video CNN has of her latest statement. She does mention Ghazi by name, vilifying her captors for his murder, and stating that they robbed his family of his life. From what I understand, the video she made while still in Iraq - the Islamic Party one she made in Baghdad after her release, not the propaganda one - was never supposed to be released. She said that she feared retribution from her captors if she didn't toe the line until she left the country. She also said that everything she said in BOTH interviews, about not being threatened, about being well-treated, were lies that she told in order to be released alive. She basically calls her captors scum.

I don't know, Vman. For the time being, I'm definitely giving her the benefit of the doubt. If I'd been held captive by a bunch of scary mujahadeen for twelve weeks, I'd probably say anything to get out of that effing hellhole with my head still attached to my body. I ain't a soldier, trained for that kind of thing. Neither is Jill Carroll.

Don't eat worms, though. A lot of reasonable people were ticked when they saw her first words after release.

Still say I was ahead of the curve. Glad she showed some heart for the guy. I have no prob retracting. The initial interviews pissed me off. I can be persuaded. Hell, I can be bought.

Posted by: Velociman at April 1, 2006 9:37 PM

Uh no...actually, no "reasonable" people were "ticked" by what they read. Only people who were looking for an excuse to pile on a reporter despite the fact that she'd just survived captivity the likes of which they'll never experience in their miserable lives, were "ticked" by what they read.

I for one was momentarily happy when she was released, until I thought of the countless other Arabs and westerners who've died at the hands of insurgents, let alone the faceless Iraqis being murdered day in and day out, without hordes of right-wing bloggers to scrutinize their actions. Then I wasn't as happy anymore.

Boy howdy. Where the fuck do you people come from? I cave. You win. Now do something positive with it.

Posted by: Velociman at April 1, 2006 11:19 PM

Hey, Al, color me unreasonable. The bitch went over there, and put herself in a wartime situation, where many Westerners have been captured and killed before, and risked the lives of good soldiers who might have had to rescue her dumb ass and die for no good reason except she was a self-aggrandizing liberal cunt (like you, if I may add).

The Iraqi's are victims of their own lassitude, tribalism, and impotence. A 'reporter' chooses to go there, and she lost a family their father/husband.

Fuck you.

The bitch went over there, and put herself in a wartime situation ...

Sheesh. How do you expect a free country to fight a just war without reporters there to observe the situation? Reporters like Jill Carroll are heroes for being there and attempting to cover the war objectively.

Posted by: Rogers Cadenhead at April 2, 2006 12:55 PM

There is nothing "objective" about Jill Carroll's coverage of the war. She went over there with an agenda, and her actions post-captive are proof of that fact.

I really, really burn over how even our wars have to be politically correct now. It's a fucking war, for god's sake. Go there, eliminate the enemy, come home. It would be over a lot quicker were it not for the politicos being involved.

Amen, David.

Wouldn't surprise me if she went over there and paid some people $10,000.00 U.S. to "kidnap" her. The fact that the demand for her return was for the release of all female prisoners being held is highly suspicious, as I've never seen a muslim who gives a shit about women.
The part where her interpereter got killed was thrown in for good measure by the people she brokered the deal with, at no extra charge. She didn't plan on it but hey - his life was given for the "greater good" as the commercial says.

Not saying it happened this way, but she was surprisingly well-nourished, unlike the three (3) christians who recently were released.

Well, I've heard that semen can be quite fattening, in large, repeated doses.

Posted by: Bane at April 2, 2006 10:56 PM

Like Capt. Ed said, you guys piss and moan that the media isn't getting the "real" story about Iraq and then when this girl does leave the green zone and it goes badly you piss and moan about her agenda because you don't like her politics? Ask yourself, would you have piled on if it was a soldier who was making a statement or would you have given the benefit of the doubt to a military prisoner of war? I don't see much difference.

Sorry but anyone who piled on this girl before all the facts came out should be big enough to apologize and just admit they were tricked by the MSM's latest Natalie Holloway moment.

You may find this characterization of her interesting:

There is nothing "objective" about Jill Carroll's coverage of the war.

The Christian Science Monitor covers the war as objectively as any American paper. I can't characterize Carroll's coverage specifically, but the paper itself is balanced and has good international sources.

It would be over a lot quicker were it not for the politicos being involved.

That's one of the prices of a democratic form of government. Which we're trying to install in Iraq. Ironic, eh?
