AURORAPHOBIA

That would be the fear of the Northern Lights. The Aurora Borealis. I, personally, do not fear that. I actually have craved seeing the Lights for decades. Nonetheless, you really must visit this place. There are more fears out there than I could have ever imagined. Me? I suffer from Apotemnophobia. Quotidian? Yes. And yet I still feel the skeer.

How many must suffer a phobia before it receives a name?

Where is the defining line between rational and irrational?

I ask because I'm certain that at least ten of those apply to me.

Is there a phobia for those who fear they have a phobia?

Funny thing, as I was reading this, the new Hardees commercial came on.

Xanthophobia-The fear of the color yellow: "28 of you are running away from your television sets."

Now that's a funny thought!

I have phalacrophobia, the irrational fear of losing my hair. Everyone, including my ex-boyfriend and hairdresser assure me that my hair is not thinning. However, I continue to worry about it, avoid brushing my hair and despair at the hairs I see in the sink or bottom of the shower. I don't think this is an irrational fear, despite the assurances to the contrary. Bald women are ugly. I want to get a white girl weave.
