I topped off the tank at $2.98 today, and considered myself a lucky man. It was fucking Amoco, man. The God of Gas.
I'll be refilling at $4 next week, fo sho. But the $6 they're popping them for in Georgia? Screw that. I'd just filler up with Popov vodka. A shot for me, a shot for Bessie.
Then I would go to the Texaco station, and drag Patel out into the parking lot, and beat his thieving ass senseless. Then cross the street to the BP and pull out Patel and beat him senseless. And so on down the streets, stomping Patels.
I can respect a looter. I can't respect a motherfucker who wants you to come back next week for the same assfucking. And when the crisis is over, display his impeccable British manners, courtesy of the Raj, and expect business as usual.
Hmmm...
For the last 18 months, I've paid the equivalent of a minimum of $8 per gallon for diesel here in France.
It costs me around US$70 to fill up a frickin' VW GOLF... which is NOT a damned SUV with a semi-infinite gas tank but an econo-box that performs well for an econo-box but is a far, far cry from the 3-series BMW I left behind in the US.
Sorry, dude, wait a while before I cry with you.
;-)

Jack, quit trying to mate apples with oranges. It is unbecoming. You happen to reside in a country that not only has 20% of their power supplied by nuclear energy, the French government is thick as thieves with oil despots (like Bush is). You just happen to be getting screwed by a socialist government. We expect that from France. We don't expect that here, so it pisses us off when it happens. Sorry for your plight. You're a smart guy. Do like me. Find another job.
You live with Frenchman and pay $8 a gallon?
Safe to safe, your day is spent is in the proverbial shitter.
Posted by: gordon the magnificent at September 1, 2005 9:04 PM.. I once lusted heartily after a Patel.. Bela, I believe, was her name.... she was a little exotic doll in high school... father was a Dentist.... I stayed away though... her cousin, also a Patel, was a local linebacker... not that I was scared, of course... just that I felt the jewels weren't worth the price of stealing... it's all relative, after all....
Posted by: Eric at September 1, 2005 9:30 PMCorrect me if I am wrong, but I believe that the 'greener-than-thou' Frogs get about 70 percent of their electricity from nuclear power, the wily devils.
Posted by: Don McArthur at September 1, 2005 9:43 PMI have gas, too.
Must've been that Weighty Restaurant Meal of which I partook this evening. Some chemical reaction between the Rosemary Beefsteak and the arugula...who knows?
Perhaps I will hook myself up to an empty Enema Bag and harvest some methane. Energy is energy, innit?
Posted by: Elisson at September 1, 2005 11:45 PM$2.98? Patel's letting you off easy.
I'm gonna go buy me a gas station so I can give everybody gas for 38 cents like when I was a kid. Cigarettes will be a quarter a pack and you'll be able to get an RC with a moonpie for 20 cent.
