TOO MANY PEOPLE

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that my county, St Johns, is the 9th fastest growing county in the nation.

Yeah, you can't buck progress, but you can call it an ass.

I liked the bucolic nature of this area, and the tater farms, and retards. Now monolithic developers are buying the spudders out, and building thousands of homes on postage stamp lots. All with no infrastructure. The roads here are two lane blacktop, county maintained shit. It can't support these Godzilla developments.

As long as I have the tire iron out, and potentially bloodied, perhaps a few county commissioners should feel my wrath. Those dickless bastards. Throw some money around, and they are base whores.

On the other hand, I'm building equity. And I'll need it, because I'm about to haul ass. Move to Putnam County, open a bordello or something.

$99 Tire Iron Special. I'll beat the john for you afterwards, and you can rifle his wallet. Prolly won't get too much return trade, but it's all about striking while the Iron is hot. Right?

The area was bucolic before your developer built your house and sold it to you.

Of course, you could move just a little north, just up 95 to SE Jawja.... then you'd be in elite company - The AcidMan, Moogie, the Cat, and, of course, myself.

And compared to that... place that you're in, SE Jawja is CHEAP (as in "good deal").

Jacksonville! Hell that's as bad as living in Atlanta. I learned how to by pass it by taking 301 north to I95 and stay the hell away from there.

I live in Citrus county way down SW of you. The country fathers here just doubled impact fees on new three bedroom homes to about $6600 to help pay for the infa-structure. Probably slow down development some and that will not break my heart.

Now your civic leaders will be complaining loudly to the state that your county needs more roads to accomodate all the people moving into these new subdvisions. More roads will bring more development, which will bring more traffic, which will bring more cries for still more roads, etc, etc.

You're DOOMED.

Take it from one who knows urban sprawl when he reads about it, I'm in Phoenix, the urban sprawl capital of the world. There is no stopping progress. They just keep coming, bringin' there bad driving habits with them. Developers keep accomodating them and before you know it they've built master-planned communities with 15,000 houses on 35,000 acres of land... gotta have 20,000 acres set aside for the golf courses, which suck up the water supply that is oh-so-plentiful in the desert. And of course, every Tom, Dick and Harry from Chicago, Minneapolis and all the rest of the rust belt want to move here get there piece of the western dream, you know buy a house in the middle of the pristine sonoran desert, then slam the gate behind them. Don't want the other Chicagoan buying up the lot next to them and destroying there view.

"You can't buck progress, and it is boolish to try." At least, that's what my friend Buckwheat always used to say.

Oh, cry me a river. I've been watching the same, and worse, go on here in Collier for 35 years. Now they're running it through the shredder and re-grooving, with Taj McMansions going up all aroung me on the stripped off teardown lots the Real Estate MFs first subdivided 40 years ago. I hate living in a county with 150 golf courses and one shooting range. Owhell, Dennis is fun.
