Bat House

Rob wasn't sure what a bat box was, so here you go:

Box, house, whatever. I shot it from the bottom so he could see the slot at the bottom for the beasts to crawl in and nest. I'm not sure how many could fit in here, or if they share. This would probably handle two cozy, four very cozy.

And I figured out where it came from: Skeeter made it in school, so I'm glad they're teaching kids the proper things here. She did a jam up job, too.

Man, I'll bet a dozen bats could hang in there if they didn't have domestic violence issues. Bats don't take up a lot of room.

Dozens. Dozens of the little critters will fit up into one of those houses. When they sleep, they like jamming themselves into one solid mass, and almost all of their body is wing. Those wings fold down into almost nothing, too.

Admittedly, that depends on species, but I'm pretty sure you aren't looking at flying foxes.

Do bats prefer Southern Yellow Pine to Brazillian Ipe? Just curious.

I've thought several times of getting a bat box. They're fascinating to watch at night...flitting this way and that. And, as an added bonus, they eat mosquitos by the bucketful.

Bats... Jesus H. Tap-Dancing Christ...

Reminds me of a story from my mis-spent youth... Large quantities of Bacardi 151, an errant bat, and a 410 shotgun...

I wanna marry Samira. She knows bats.
