I don't freak out about these things. I perform reconnaissance for cheap hotel rooms, with very liberal cancellation policies, a few days in advance. Then, I book about three rooms, in different cities (including one at home, just in case my power is out). If I use the rooms, great, if I don't, I don't get dinged on my card, and they'll sell the room to someone else who needs it.

Now, not getting freaked out is an entirely different thing from "chapping"..with this I can agree.

A little minor cyclone warning, early in the season, is good for an adrenaline rush, and forces me to take inventory...but now...I've had enough. I'm no adrenaline junkie.
