I published a drunken whimsical post on Joe Savage about a year ago. Such is Joe's fame and following that I continue to get a comment or so a week on that post, most regaling a Savage concert somewhere in the American heartland.
Imagine my surprise when I received comments Sunday and again today from Joe himself. I believe he was truly touched by the fans' outpouring here. He was probably less impressed by the original post.
Allow me to correct a couple of errors: "a" child was not attacked by Joe's manx. His own daughter was (I believe the daughter who also commented on this post). I'm sure she recovered fully. The attack did not happen in Savannah, as I recalled, but in Vegas, per Joe. I suppose I conflated that with the Savannah authorities' decision to ban Joe from performing in Savannah with the cat in tow.
At any rate, the fact remains Joe is well and still in Vegas, and the man did put on one hell of a show. Go read the comments. Beautiful stuff.
Yes, Joe Savage is alive and well and is preparing to revive "The Joe Savage Experience".
The premiere show is scheduled for November 4, 2004 at ALLEYGATORS Underground Lounge in Printers Alley in Nashville, TN. Joe has been called "The King of Commando Rock", "The wild man of rock and roll" and you never know what he's going to do next. This act contains adult language, adult content and is not meant for wimps. Be there if you dare.
Did Joe Savage have a band member named Dennis freeman?
Posted by: mitch at October 20, 2004 4:43 AMJoe's caretaker of his cat didn't lock the door all the way after feeding him, so when joe's wife and daughter came home the cat attacked the little girl. The mother tried to pry the little girl's head from the cat's mouth, but by the time they got her to the hospitol she died. Joe killed the cat personally.

Posted by: rosedaiquari at February 4, 2005 12:52 PMI used to see Joe perform at the Coral Gables in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the middle 70's. At that time he had a boa in his act that tightened up on him during a performance and had to be killed. He was the best club entertainer I ever saw.
Posted by: Louie at February 23, 2005 1:51 PMback in 75 i saw Joe perform in Miami and then he came to Boston and agreed to perform a Matinee show for a group of elderly patients at a Nursing Home I worked for I was 18 at the time and i remember a pool being in the lobby of this club called the Flicks Lounge. I was part of the Boa act! It was so much fun. Joe Actually jumped in the pool with his costume on. All the old people loved it!
Posted by: cheryl at March 6, 2005 1:48 PMJoe, If you read this I want to also thank you for those memories at the Flick's Lounge in Boston and The Marco Polo in Miami. I was just a kid and you were so kind. Imagine an 18 year old kid impressing her boss with a free act for a group of lonely Nursing Home patients. It was so much fun and a memory I will always cherish. I wasn't even afraid of the snake. I just went with it and enjoyed my 15 minutes of fame! Hope you are well! Please come to Boston!
Posted by: cheryl at March 6, 2005 2:12 PMJoe, if you read this I want to thank you for some of the most memorable entertainment I have every experienced. Saw you every time you played the Buttercup Lounge in Lunenburg, MA and it was truly an "Experience"!!!
Posted by: DonnaD at April 18, 2005 11:47 AMKeep in touch. Joe came and listen to some guys playing this weekend and liked them. He is thinking about getting them to back him for my bike rally. Posted by: carol at April 25, 2005 3:04 PMI used to see Joe play at Harrah's Lake Tahoe back in the 80's. It was the best show ever; not the usual for conservative Harrah's. What a wildman! Lee Marquette was fantastic as well!
Thanks Joe!

Posted by: Lisa aka "flip" at July 29, 2006 11:24 PMcajun's wharf in nashville in the 80's - he was awesome and we've wondered where he's been. we're in california now, how about heading west joe??? by far the best act i've ever seen, even 20 years later.
Posted by: cristal at November 11, 2006 12:30 AMGrowing up in Akron Ohio I would see the ads in the newspaper for Joe's performances at Red's. In 1987, after returning from a tour in Germany with the Army, my sister and brother-in-law took me to Red's to see Joe perform. I was blown away by the tunes and the theatrics...especially the shotgun blasts. After arriving at my next Army assignment at the Presidio of San Francisco, I attended a conference in Reno Nevada. Lo and behold, I got to see Joe perform there. Its been almost 20 years, but I'd love to see Joe Savage perform again.
All the best,
Gene Bonos

Joe was the entertainer at our wedding in 1976 which was held in a very large nightclub in Nashua NH. He was a CLASS ACT then and still is from everything I have heard. We had seen him and his band wizard perform a number of times and when they (the owners of the club) asked us to get married at the club, and told us they would bring in anybody we wanted, Joe was it.
I ran across a blog a couple years ago where they were talking about him and I posted a message. Boy was I surprised when my phone rang and it was Joe on the other end. Totally blew me away. We had a nice chat and he filled me in on his plans to revive the Joe Savage Experience. It's nice to know he DID IT!!!
Posted by: Steve at August 14, 2007 12:37 PMI'm looking for an email address, link, website or a myspace on either Joe Savage or Lee Marquette.

Posted by: Dave Dunseath at September 14, 2007 1:17 AMI was a bartender in EJ's Lounge in Rowley Ma. in 1975.Joe Savage played there.Noone knew what to think of him. It was a hick town near southern NH.He would sit some unsuspecting girl in a seat in the middle of the dance floor, and put his huge boa around her neck.It was wild.Glad to know he's still entertaining.
Posted by: Jeannie at October 26, 2007 6:30 PMhey, nice comments. you can catch The Joe Savage Show, in fact, he told me himself to please invite all his buddies to The Ballys Casino,
Robinsonville/Tunica, Mississippi, on Fridays and Saturdays Nights for the whole month of November, 2007. He does three shows. One at 8 pm, one at 10 pm, and one at 12 pm. The crowds just love him after they pull them all down from the ceilings. Go all the way to the back of the casino to the Bar Area, His show stage is behind the bar, head to the left behind the Bar, and tell the young lady attendant, you are a VIP with the Joe Savage Fan Support Group, they will give you a free wristband or you can actually see all of the show, just by sitting at the Bar. Come on down, he would love to see you all again.
Most Respectfully,
Lucas Leigh

Posted by: Dick Johns at August 14, 2008 7:04 PMI'm a former member of a showband called Coast to Coast. We performed with the Joe Savage band back in the 80's in Reno. We have been trying to locate Kirsten Kite as we have started a social network website that contains a bunch of the old 'Coast' material that Kirsten was a big part of. If anybody can help me out it will be greatly appreciated. I noticed a reply from her and that she now lives in Chicago but still can't seem to locate her.
