THE HITCH STIKES BACK

Christopher Hitchens didn't think Bob Hope was very funny. Apparently Bob never told any jokes about having sex with Mother Teresa. That, I'm sure, Hitch would have found hilarious.

Hitchens is a numbnut...

Hitchens is exactly right. Henny Youngman was funnier in one night than Bob Hope was in his entire career. Hope was the type of guy that made Nixon laugh. Hope was a real hoot for white people everywhere in the days before Lenny Bruce, National Lampoon, and Saturday Night Live. God bless him for his many USO tours (though there is plenty of evidence to show that many soldiers were forced to attend), and his longevity is to be commended. But he was not very funny.

Bullshit, I say. Hope was funny, just not to you. Humor is an extraordinarily subjective matter, to declare a comedian "not funny" is to display one's staggering lack of understanding of the subject.

Hope wsz funny in a northern VCalifornia rich, white bread sort of way. Hell, he was my hero.
but Dennis Wolfberg was funnier than them all.
